The Magpul Suppressor Cover - 5.5" is the first product of its kind that is able to withstand the extreme temperatures caused by semi-automatic and automatic fire for an extended period of time, protecting the user and equipment from burns. At the same time, it speeds up the cooling process. The Magpul Suppressor Cover - 5.5" is made of a heat-resistant polymer case overlaid on a raised stainless steel heat shield that attaches directly to the body of the suppressor with steel clamps, thus minimizing heat transfer. The cover keeps the temperatures of the outer cover up to 538 C° lower than on the surface of the muffler. Which allows cooler air to flow through the package.
In addition, it serves as an improved thermal insulator and signature reduction device, significantly reducing ghosting (air flicker) in the shooter's shot. It reduces the chance of impact damage to the suppressor body and reduces the chance of accidental heat injury or damage to equipment during firing and cooling.
Optimized for 1.5”/3.81cm OD circular suppressors with a body length of approximately 5.5”/13.97cm (without mounting hardware / interface) such as the Surefire SOCOM556-RC2.
