Constitutional Carry takes three alleged criminals off the street

Kansas just joined with four other states to recognize something called “Constitutional Carry” – the Right to keep a firearm on your body without having to purchase a permit to do so – and it may have just taken three criminals off the street.

Joey Tapley was exercising that Right while shopping at a sporting goods store in Topeka, Kansas, when he heard some “loud bangs”. Tapley found himself face-to-face with two armed suspects. It’s at that point that Tapley drew his concealed firearm.

“I told him ‘Drop the gun, man, mine is loaded, just drop the gun.’ We made eye contact for a second or two and he dropped two guns and ran.”

Police arrested the suspects and booked them into juvenile detention on assault, burglary, and robbery charges. A woman also was arrested and booked on conspiracy to commit aggravated robbery.

The Kansas law went into effect July 1, 2015. Had that law not been in place, Tapley wouldn’t have been carrying a sidearm and the three alleged criminals would likely still be at large.

“That’s why Kansas made the law,” he told WIBW, “so citizens can carry and protect themselves and others.”
